Hello to all of my friends and clients. I know that you have been wondering why the long absence?
Just before Christmas, the 10th of December to be exact, I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer, 'Invasive Lobular Carcinoma'. As you can imagine, this came as a sudden shock and I felt as though my whole world was crumbling to an end. I have since recovered beautifully from surgery and have begun treatment which began today. I have been inspired by what is truly important in life and I am so happy to report that I am still here, shooting photography. I am finding photography to be the perfect healing tool and a way that I can express myself through this journey. If you would like to follow my journey, you can visit www.debbiegibb.com
Thank you for all of the love and concern. It truly has sustained me through this most difficult trial.
Yes, I am still booking shoots. I can't wait to see YOU!
You may remember this fun shoot I posted back in August of two sisters, Hailey and Natalie making cookies. What girl doesn't love to bake? It is the beginnings of being a young woman and learning the very things that boost our self esteem.
Tying in my fun memories of baking as a child, I gathered as many fun, old props as I could. For me, the fun was in hunting down old baking canisters, bowls, hot pads, etc. As I gathered many of these things from antique stores and some of them from my very own kitchen, it took me back to why I love to bake. I love the smell of a yummy dessert baking and the comfort that it gives to ones soul. I wanted to recreate a cookie shoot that brought back so many memories of my childhood and Hailey and Natalie were the perfect subjects for just a shoot.
I arrived with props in hand and Hailey and Natalie were full of anticipation and excitement. With the help of Katie (their Mom) we staged the props to depict an old kitchen. We opened all of the window blinds to bring as much natural light into the room as possible. We dressed the girls in simple attire and tied cute old fashioned aprons to match. Now we were ready to get to work to tell the story of baking cookies.
I worked to shoot in order of how cookies would be made, from adding the dry ingredients, then the wet ingredients, to cracking the eggs, right down to the very last detail of frosting the cookies. I have to say, this was really the BEST part for all of us! Katie was able to teach her daughters step by step how a recipe comes together and I was lucky enough to witness such teachings and to document this teaching moment. But it was more than that! Two sisters spending time together, helping each other and learning along side. Sisters are a strong bond and Katie has made a point to be sure that this has been instilled at their young ages. I loved how the feel of this shoot is timeless and depicts the past when life was simpler. Lifestyle shoots are one of my absolute favorites to shoot, I just love the story telling.
With the newest technology I have found from Vuetone's video builder, this is the perfect way to turn a fun shoot into a beautiful story of two sisters who enjoy being together.
With few choices to create video's for photography and ones that have little creativity built into them, I was on the search for new and upcoming technology that would allow me to better record clients memories of their shoots. After a LONG awaited search, I discovered the unique feel and look of Vuetone studios video's, I am so excited to offer this newly produced product to all of my clients. Giving a unique experience and offering products that are unlike any other is so important to me. Enjoy this newly created video of Brianna's Senior shoot produced by Vuetone Studios
Great photography doesn’t take fancy equipment or college degrees—just passion and a willingness to invest in yourself and in the memories you’ll be preserving for generations to come.
