Day 31 | You In Pictures
As women, mothers and photographers we tend to forget about ourselves. So, with today’s post, I am giving you permission to step into those photos. Forgetting to step into a photo, or at times thinking that we don’t need to be in photos, is just plain wrong thinking. Three years ago I realized that I had very few photos of me. Honestly, it made me really sad. I wonder all the time what I looked like or what I wore back 10-years ago or even 5-years ago. It makes me sad to think that I have missed out on capturing ME so that my family has memories of our family times together.
As women we are the ones that see the little moments that are unfolding right before our very eyes, only to capture them and hold tight to never let them go. For we know that these moments will be gone tomorrow.
We hold the very tool that can capture these moments, these fleeting times that we may never get back… Your Kindergarteners first day of school, your Son’s first date, the wedding of your Daughter, etc. There will be a time when we sit to pour over old photos, will we see ourselves captured in these precious moments in time that we managed to preserve? What greater gift can we give to ourselves and to our families?

Looking back on the years of marriage, children, life… I see love, life, marriage, laughter, happiness, trials, sadness, and triumph. I see a team, a couple, a family. These pictures remind me of this every single day. See yourself for who you really are. You are a daughter, a friend, a sister, a wife a mother. YOU deserve to be preserved. Take those steps to be remembered for centuries to come. You and your family will be grateful!
