When shooting children, especially your own, reward them with small things along the way for their cooperation. Such as, smarties, mini marshmallows, even a story time when you are done shooting. This goes a long way to ensure their cooperation every time you pull your camera out. This is not to suggest going overboard, one or two little marshmallows will do it. Tip: smarties nor marshmallows will discolor their clothing and can be eaten fast.
Great photography doesn’t take fancy equipment or college degrees—just passion and a willingness to invest in yourself and in the memories you’ll be preserving for generations to come.
